Easy Duplicate finder

Duplicate file remover:

  • The key benefit is the softeasyduplicate1 ware is freeware and easy to install. It was recommended by
  • PC World tool of the month, Oct2008.
  • During the test I observed the performance is really amazing. It lists out all the files comparing each and every file byte by byte.
  • One major difficulty is the difficulty in checking the duplicate files. Some instance if we do a selection to the entire C drive it does a perfect job. The point to note here it does a comparison for the files and not name wise (means it compares the contents of the file). Hence, if we have 2 same files with 2 different names then also it pulls out and throws as duplicate file.
  • The critical point is that it is not an user friendly tool and it is little difficult to remove thousands of duplicate files. It would be advisable to use this tool specifically to remove the high memory occupying media file and image(photo) file the formats of JPEG,MPEG ,AVI or any other media formats.
  • Earlier this tool was having some bug that when we give the option of deletion. It completely deletes those files from the system. Now they have corrected and taken care of this issue in the latest version of the tool.

duplicate4

  • It bifurcates and gives a visual view of the memory occupied by the original and the duplicate files. You might shock to know the fact that the memory occupied by the duplicate files would be more than the original/actual files.

In short it is a very good and an useful tool.

Project 10 to the100-Google Idea contest.

Google has come out with an idea contest to commemorate its 10th year celebration.

untitled

The ideas will be selected for voting from the Internet viewers from Jan 27th 2009.From the first 20 short listed ideas 5 winners will be announced.

Any way those who want to see big fortunes can try with a good innovative idea. Why cant you?

How you can register your ideas .I am just furnishing below what google has announced.

Submission Deadline:
October 20th, 2008

Project 10100

   Back to 10th Birthday

How it works

Project 10100 (pronounced "Project 10 to the 100th") is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible. Here's how to join in.

1. Send us your idea by October 20th.
Simply fill out the submission form giving us the gist of your idea. You can supplement your proposal with a 30-second video.

2. Voting on ideas begins on January 27th.
We'll post a selection of one hundred ideas and ask you, the public, to choose twenty semi-finalists. Then an advisory board will select up to five final ideas. Send me a reminder to vote.

3. We'll help bring these ideas to life.
We're committing $10 million to implement these projects, and our goal is to help as many people as possible. So remember, money may provide a jumpstart, but the idea is the thing.

Good luck, and may those who help the most win.

Submit your idea

Remember, the deadline is
October 20th, 2008

Guidelines

Our goal is to set as few rules as possible. However, we ask that you put your idea into one of the following categories and consider the evaluation criteria below.

Categories:

  • Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
  • Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
  • Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
  • Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
  • Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
  • Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
  • Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
  • Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don't fit into any category at all.
Criteria:
  • Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
  • Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
  • Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
  • Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
  • Longevity: How long will the idea's impact last?

Why this project?

Never in history have so many people had so much information, so many tools at their disposal, so many ways of making good ideas come to life. Yet at the same time, so many people, of all walks of life, could use so much help, in both little ways and big.

In the midst of this, new studies are reinforcing the simple wisdom that beyond a certain very basic level of material wealth, the only thing that increases individual happiness over time is helping other people.

In other words, helping helps everybody, helper and helped alike.

The question is: what would help? And help most?

At Google, we don't believe we have the answers, but we do believe the answers are out there. Maybe in a lab, or a company, or a university -- but maybe not.

Maybe the answer that helps somebody is in your head, in something you've observed, some notion that you've been fiddling with, some small connection you've noticed, some old thing you have seen with new eyes.

If you have an idea that you believe would help somebody, we want to hear about it. We're looking for ideas that help as many people as possible, in any way, and we're committing the funding to launch them. You can submit your ideas and help vote on ideas from others. Final idea selections will be made by an advisory board.

Good luck, and may those who help the most win.

About Google Chrome

The main advantage of this browser is very simple. The browser user interface has a simple look and designed to give a wider vowing space. There is a Tab bar space and no menu and tool bar in the cluttering interface.GoogleChromeLogo

Some of the key features includes:

  • Re opening of the closed tabs:You can do reopen the last 10tabs in the browser(Press Ctrl+Shift-T).You can keep doing this for the past 10tabs.Also a restore option that re opens the pages opened from the last closing of the screen(Tools>options>basics)
  • Add on book marklets.Press CTrl+B.You can view the list of book marklets with chrome.
  • Calculator and convertor feature.
  • Almost all the key board short cuts are available with the browser.
  • A good down load manager.google_chrome
  • Fast and Quick
  • Private Browsing - Incognito Pages
  • Has an advanced Google Chrome Task manager and memory statistics (about:memory)
  • Good view-source:http://www.hp.com/ (View Source Option) with line number
  • Doesn't save webpages (full) as .mht but saves it like the legacy IE way
  • Has chrome-source (Inspect Element) option to examine every component on the page
  • Has stolen "Duplicate Tab" option from opera but doesn't duplicate in the same window, instead opens a new Window
  • http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html READS :

Concerns:

Experts feels that the Google chrome is a software mule and it is vulnerable to the software security threats.

A "software mule" is a computer program which embedded, and therefore is dependent on, code of many other programs and libraries.

The main reason for security threat is why because a software mule embeds the code of its "parents" programs and libraries, and therefore it inherits their genetic problems, also known as - software vulnerabilities.

If a security vulnerability was found in a program or a library that is part of the software mule, it makes the software mule in high probability of being vulnerable to this security too. The vendor of the software mule will need to deliver a patch for each and every fix that was the made for the embedded code. This will take time, and will put the software mule users at risk, because the vulnerability in the embedded program/library will be already publicly known.

People feel the chrome browser most likely to have Carpet bombing a vulnerability that was found in Apple Safari and was already fixed. chrome

Google had taken some action on those vulnerabilities partially but not fully. They have added a check to make sure that the default download folder is not the user's desktop. This is a good security measure, but definitely not a full patch for this issue. The vulnerability can still be exploited for a remote code execution.

Google Lively

Google new tool a new 3D  social space we can create a character of our own and make the characters to live in this virtual space.

Google believes the web should not be "static." In fact, the Google Lively team has posed this question: "What if you want to express yourself in a more fun way, with 3D graphics and real-time avatar interactions?"

You need to download software into your system before you can enter the 3D world of Google Lively. It will then ask you to sign in using your Google account username and password. This is quite convenient.

Several virtual worlds or rooms are now present in Google Lively from a "Disco A-Go-Go," a "Google Room," and a "Fight Club," awindows _livemong others.

So what can you do in these rooms? Well, you can start by chatting with other virtual characters called avatars, which you can also groom and dress according to your taste.

During our  tours in some popular rooms, we found many avatars just standing and doing nothing. Very few people would really engage in a conversation, unless if you start annoying some avatars.

"The Lively team wants to help people experience another dimension of the web. We hope you will use the product to express yourself with and without words, and to do this in the places you already visit on the web.

livel2Users can embed Lively on their favorite social networking websites and blogs.I've read Lively's already working on Facebook . Social networking may never be the same

After the lalively2unch of this tool some users have complained that it supports  only windows. The interface crashes often with firefox. It gives a cartoon like character.Great ..

Concerns:

  • Believe google lively may be used by hackers to gain access to sensitive user information.
  • Phishing and other malicious attempts to steal identities are rampant on the web today.

Excerpts from the official

Google blog below.

“While ago, I looked around the social web and wished that it could be less static. Sure, you can leave a comment on a blog or write a text blurb on your social networking profile. But what if you want to express yourself in a more fun way, with 3D graphics and real-time avatar interactions? I started asking this question as a 20% project, and I'm excited to announce today's release of Lively by Google - a 3D virtual experience that is the newest addition to Google Labs.
The Lively team wants to help people experience another dimension of the web. We hope you will use the product to express yourself with and without words, and to do this in the places you already visit on the web.
If you enter a Lively room embedded on your favorite blog or website, you can immediately get a sense of the room creator's interests, just by looking at the furniture and environment they chose. You can also express your own personality by customizing your avatar's look, showing people who you are without having to say a word. Of course, you can chat with each other, and you can also interact through animated actions. In our user research, we’ve been amazed at how much more poignant it is to receive an animated hug than seeing the text “[[hug]]”.
Prior to this release, we worked closely with Arizona State University. Based on feedback from ASU students and with help from the Google Desktop team, we added support for playing YouTube videos in virtual TVs and showing photos in virtual picture frames inside our rooms. Better yet, the gadgets you have in your Lively rooms can also run on your desktop.

To learn more about Lively, please visit www.lively.com. We’re eager to hear your feedback. Maybe we'll bump into you in one of our rooms!”

Blue-ray Burner

Guide Note

A Blu-Ray Burner is a device that allows you to create a Blu-Ray DVD or CD.

Fast Facts

  1. Blu-Ray is a high-definition DVD format
  2. Uses a blue violet laser to read and write data
  3. Blu-Ray beat HD-DVD in the format war

Blu-Ray Background

Blu-Ray was created by Sony, first announcing them in October 2000. The project was made official in February 2002, with the first consumer devices reaching stores in July 2003. Blu-Ray and HD-DVDhad been in a format war, each attempting to be the standard for high-definintion discs. The war ended when Warner Brothers announced in January 2008 that they would begin only releasing Blu-Ray DVDs beginning in May 2008. This announcement caused major retailers to quit carrying HD-DVD discs.

Blu-Ray Structure

Blu-Ray uses a shorter wavelength, 405 nm, allowing for much more data to be stored on a single disc. Dual-layer Blu-Ray discs have the ability to hold up to 50GB of media, which is more than six times the capacity of a normal DVD

Demand today

Storage manufacturers of all sorts have apparently selected June as "Push the Envelope Month." Last week saw Toshiba launch its first 1.8" 160GB HDD with a 3600RPM spindle speed. Toshiba claims the new models draw 33 percent less power than its previous 100GB model and the company is pushing this as a power-saving option rather than a performance product. Toshiba may have a tough sell here, as Samsung's 4200 RPM 160GB drive has already been out for a year.

Western Digital, as the company unveiled its new product tiers in the consumer Caviar line. This week also brings fresh enterprise announcements from WD, and a new hard drive capacity record in the 2.5" laptop market, this time from Samsung.

Samsung actually pushed out two new laptop drives this week, at capacities of 250GB (Samsung MP2) and 500GB (Samsung M6). The larger M6 drive will retail for a price of $299, while the smaller Spinpoint MP2 will sell at $199, with both drives hitting the market as we speak write. The M6 is a standard 9.5mm drive, spins at 5400RPM, and offers 8MB of drive cache, while the MP2 is a 7200 RPM (also 9.5mm) drive with 16MB of cache. Both drives offer native command queuing (NCQ) support.

As for enterprise storage, both Samsung and Western Digital announced new products this week. Samsung is launching a new version of its Spinpoint F1, the Spinpoint F1 Raid (aka Spinpoint F1R). The new drive features all the benefits of the original 1TB Spinpoint F1, with 334GB platters, 16-32MB of cache, NCQ support, and a 7200 RPM spindle speed. Samsung states that the drive is "designed for demanding applications such as database, email and web servers, super computing, software development, data warehousing, surveillance, call centers and nearline/backup storage systems." In this case, that had best be true. The consumer-oriented Spinpoint F1 is quite fast, nearly keeping up with WD's VelociRaptor in many tests, but the drive's performance fell dramatically in the multiuser benchmark IOMeter, as demonstrated by Tech Report.

Western Digital has an announcement of its own; the company is releasing its new "RE3" SATA enterprise drives. The new series of drives supports WD's Rotary Acceleration Forward Feed (RAFF) technology, which is designed to improve drive performance even when installed in a rackmount prone to high levels of vibration, a multi-axis shock sensor meant to detect what Western Digital calls "even the subtlest of shock events," and a dual processor. Unfortunately, there's very little information on what this last point entails; WD merely mentions the feature and notes that it "results in a 20 percent performance improvement over the previous generation."

Over in the optical market, Panasonic announced on Wednesday that it has built the world's first 6x Blu-ray Write-Once discs, or BD-R. The new discs will be available in 25GB and 50GB sizes, and are capable of transferring data at up to 216Mbps—20 percent faster than 16x DVD drives. The company expects the discs to be available in Japan by July; Panasonic-branded 6x burners are expected by September, 2008. No word on when drive or disc will formally hit the US market.

LG, meanwhile, may have Panasonic beaten when it comes to the 6x burner market. LG has already announced a series of USB2-compatible Blu-ray burners, and while they aren't cheap at $369 apiece, they're also expected to hit shelves very soon. NewEgg already lists the drive (though the model is noted out of stock). The new external drive is capable of writing to all forms of Blu-ray media (BD-R, BD-RE), the various DVD standards, and CD-R/RW. Interestingly, it's also a combo HD reader, with support for all of the formats mentioned above as well as HD DVD. LG doesn't appear to be talking up this particular capability, but you can find support for HD DVD listed under the unit's specification page.

Finally, if you're in the market for a personal storage device that's not going to run dry any time soon, Western Digital has refreshed their MyBook Mirror Edition product line with a 2TB option. The system ships with 2x1TB Green Power WD drives configured in RAID 1 for $549, or 2x512GB drives in RAID 1 for $289.99. My Book Mirror Edition is compatible with both Windows 2K/XP/Vista and Mac OS X (provided you're running at least 10.5.2), carries a three-year warranty, and can apparently be configured to run in Raid 0 or RAID 1. Why anyone would buy a disc backup solution that runs over USB 2.0 and then configure it for RAID 0 is beyond me, but the option is there if you want to do it.

Buffalo Technology announced yesterday a pair of new Blu-ray burners, one external and one internal which both offer the fastest speeds available currently, 8x.
The MediaStation 8x External Blu-ray Drive connects via a USB 2.0</A itxtvisited="1"> port or through a faster eSATA interface while the MediaStation 8x Internal Blu-ray Writer connects via standard SATA. There are no added drivers necessary for your system to read the drives and both can read and write CDs, DVDs, and BD-R/RE.
Both drives ship with CyberLink suite software which allows for H playback, Blu-ray capture, editing and authoring.
Both drives will be available within the next week and are priced $350 USD for the internal and $400 USD for the external, respectively.

Easy uploading of images in Blogger-Windows live blog writer

I was just searching to find out whether we have any options of easy image uploading in the blogger. As you know typing the blog and uploading the images in the blog is a very painful work than any thing.

Just have been searching   and found windows live blog writer reasonably suits to the easy image uploading feature also it helps as work in the  blogs offline and shall upload once we saved the documents.

The flexibility is more in uploading the images /objects into the blog. The basic question arises why bloggers doesn't have much flexibilty features I really don't know why? Also we can paste the pictures so easily.

There are good and bad and here listing a  some few bugs and its merits.

  • Hard as I tried, I was not able to get Windows Live Writer to update a post to reflect changes that I did online AFTER publishing a post using Windows Live Writer.

Dog rose leaves covered with frost in Sweden.

  • The ability to specify posting thumbnail vs. original image, the way Wordpress does it. I want a 9k thumbnail that can be clicked to show the 100k image, not a resized 100k image within every post.

A cascading waterfall, flanked by flowers.

  • Earlier, Windows Live Writer is unable to download previous posts past the <!–more–> tag, which is very strange and effectively makes it useless for editing already published posts. It was fixed now.A humpback whale slapping the surface with its tail.
  • For such a foray into WYSIWYG blogging, I am stumped as to why there is no support for creating tables on the fly. I mean if I AM using a local client it might as well be powerful.
  • For posted images, Windows Live Writer creates its own folder structure within the Wordpress ‘Uploads’ folder. Which is okay, but I do wish that it stuck with the Wordpress folder structure instead. A lone oryx antelope.
  • I wish the program has more warning dialogs such as “you are about to delete this post; both local and published versions will be affected, are you sure you want to do this”. Or something like that. This is a big bug we couldn't delete the messages in local after posting
  • WYSIWIG (what you see is what you get). It will download your site’s CSS and is able to preview exactly what your post will look like when published. The editing interface looks really good and is very well designed.
  • Built in spelling checker. GreatA toucan perched on a branch in Brazil.
  • Instantly switch from normal view to the HTML code and to ‘web preview’.

  • Nice handling of images, including a slew of unexpected options such as the ability to rotate an image, adjusting brightness, setting height/width of an image and the margin around it (if any), as well as a handful of border styles. It seems that you can import more effects capabilities through downloadable plugins. Paradoxically, for all of this I was unable to tell the program to use a thumbnail instead of the

Sheep under a tree near Dorset, England.

actual resized image, a glaring omission in my book.

  • Relatively small and non-bloated (yes this is Microsoft we’re talking about folks).
  • Supports a wide range of blogging platforms including Windows Live spaces, Wordpress.com, Typepad, Livejournal, Movable Type, Wordpress custom installation, Radio Userland, Community server, Dasblog, Metaweblog API, Movable type API, and Blogger (Atom).
  • Allows you to either publish a posting or post-to-draft.
  • You can insert MS Live local maps straight from the interface. An interesting feature for some I’m sure (not so much for me).

It is really a good tool. This soft ware is free ..But Microsoft inherited problem that we would be opted to install some unwanted options as a part of this tool. Also it replaces your default search engine and replace it to Live search.Little careful while down loading.
